Educational excellence of GRT MV scales new heights with the school producing cent percent results in the state board exams for X and XII. Winning this position for seven consecutive years, GRT MV has received numerous accolades from the state government for achieving 100% results.
Excellence in Sports & Co-curricular Activities
GRT Mahalakshmi Vidyalaya schools the most active student community. The students actively participate in sports activities like volleyball, basket ball, table tennis, badminton etc. the compulsory co-curricular activities in the school has resulted a great deal in making the students participating and achieving in academics as well as sports. The academic year 2008-2009 had been of great achievements with the students excelling in all the competitions they took part and bringing home the overall championships in more than four tournaments held by various schools and sports association in Tamil Nadu. The year also saw the students of GRT being selected to represent the District in the state level tournaments.
The students of GRT MV swept the top spots in volleyball / badminton / table tennis / cricket / athletics / basket ball / throw ball / kho-kho / long jump / javelin throw to name a few.

- State level inter school tournament organized by Tamil Nadu sports promoters association – winners in volleyball / badminton / table tennis. Over all championship awarded to GRT Matriculation.
- Zonal and District level Chennai District level matches organized by Chennai District Boys’ Schools athletic association – won top prizes.
- Chennai District level matches organized by Chennai District Girls’ Schools Athletic Association – winners in volleyball / shuttle / shot-put / javelin / discus / long jump / triple jump / relay.
- Divisional level winners (Girls) in volleyball / badminton.
- Inter school shuttle and basketball tournament conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya – winners in badminton (boys) / runners up in basketball (girls)
- Interschool competition held by Sri Sitaram Vidyalaya – winners in Volleyball and Throw Ball.
- Inter school tournament conducted by Anand Square Badminton Club (Mettupalayam) – winners in single and doubles (boys & girls)
- Inter school Tournament conducted by Mahalakshmi Badminton Club (T Nagar) – winners in singles and doubles (boys)
- Golden Jubilee Badminton Tournament conducted by Don Bosco Matric School – runners up and participation in singles and doubles.
- Sri N V Rao Memorial Inter School Tournament (T Nagar) - winners in volley ball (boys &girls) / badminton singles and doubles (boys) / winners in table tennis (girls) and under 10 categories. Over all championship won by GRT.
- Inter school Yoga Championship - winners and runners up
- Inter School Skating Tournament – winners in individual race (under 8, under 12 categories) / skating relay (4 X 100 m) and second place in group race (under 8, under 12 categories) / skating kho-kho. Overall championship won by GRT MV.
- Inter school football and tennis ball cricket tournament conducted by Asan Memorial – participation certificates for under 14 boys category
